Car hire in Spain is still among the cheapest in Europe, but beware of "fuel theft"!
Increasingly, car hire firms are operating a full/empty fuel policy, whereby first they overcharge you for a full tank of fuel, then they don't give you a refund for any fuel still in the tank when you return your car. We regard this as a scam, and advise you to avoid all firms that practice it.
We advise you to add €40 to €50 to any quote you get from a "fuel theft" operator when comparing prices with non scamming operators. This is especially the case if you are only renting for a week or so, when you may use less than half the tank you pay for .
Helle Hollis operate a full/full fuel policy, and so do others you will find by searching the web. However, they seem more expensive. We suggest you subtract the €40 to €50 to get a correct comparison.
